Xiaomi has released the Mijia Desktop Drinking Machine Hot and Cold Version. The device has three functions: chilling water, heating water and filtering water.

The gadget can chill up to 4 L of water to between 5 and 15°C, with the water kept cold for up to 24 hours meaning you never have to wait for cold water. A refrigerator style compressor is used to chill the water quickly, and an auto cooling mode is also available.

The drinking machine has a 2100 W power heating element to produce hot water between 40 and 95°C within three seconds. Plus, the Mijia Desktop Drinking Machine has a ‘Milk Preparation’ mode which parents can use to warm baby milk to the temperature of your choice.

The device filters water using a 6 stage process to remove heavy metals, scale, bacteria and more. Xiaomi recommends that the filters are replaced once a year, claiming the cost of this is less than US$1 per day.

Stale water is stored in a 1.8 L waste water tank, ensuring what you drink is always fresh. Other safety features include a child lock and the dual UV antibacterial material used in the device.

The Mijia Desktop Drinking Machine measures ~7.8 x 16.6 x 18.2-in (199 x 428 x 463 mm) and comes with an OLED screen that displays the device’s settings. You can select a mode, adjust the output volume and temperature using the Mijia app.

Customers in China can pre-order the Mijia Desktop Drinking Machine Hot and Cold Version for 2,299 yuan (~US$361). After the pre-order period, the gadget will retail for 2,499 yuan (~US$392).
