However, its performance has not kept up, and the fluctuating warm temperatures often place it in dangerous areas (above 40°F). You must weigh your priorities when considering buying this kind of anti-deep refrigerator. If a stable, cool temperature is essential, and you still like the benefits of the top Samsung 4-door Flex French door refrigerator, please check the Samsung RF23J9011SR instead, even if it will cost you more.

Samsung Smart Custom RF23A9675AP is a French door refrigerator. Unlike traditional French doors with bottom-mounted drawer freezer compartments, RF23A9675AP has two lower-level independent compartments that can be opened with doors. On the left is a dedicated freezer compartment with dual ice machines, while the right compartment provides flexible temperature settings so that it can be used as both a refrigerator and a freezer, hence the name "4-door Flex".
The top refrigerating compartment of this reverse depth model is open, with four shelves and two crisper drawers in the main cavity. There is a beverage center on the left, located between the outer door and the inner door, allowing you to use the water dispenser and kettle without releasing too much cold air from the main compartment of the refrigerator.
Two ice trays are located at the top of the lower freezer compartment, where you can choose between ice cubes and smaller ice cubes.

The front of the refrigerator is a smooth, flat rectangle, and only the quarter line between the French-door refrigerator and the freezer is destroyed. As a consumer who purchases the Bespoke model, you can customize this facade by choosing steel or glass door panels. It takes about 2 seconds to do this-I mean it literally. To remove it, you just need to grab the top with your nails, pull it towards you, and it will come out.
In addition, after you leave the door ajar for too long, a fairly continuous alarm will sound, indicating that you should close the door.

As one of Samsung's iconic 4-door Flex models, this French door refrigerator has a large refrigerator compartment, a smaller freezer compartment, and then another compartment that can be set as a refrigerator or freezer compartment. It is also an inverse depth model, making it slightly shorter in space than its standard depth equivalent.
When we tested, we measured the flexible compartment as a frozen space. Therefore, RF23A9675AP provides more freezer storage capacity than ordinary French door refrigerators, but slightly less than the average space of refrigerators.
However, if you use a flexible compartment and increase the temperature to the condition of the refrigerator, it will increase the storage capacity of the refrigerator above the average level of a French door.
This means you have multiple options. If you only have time to go to a large food store every month and take the opportunity to store frozen fresh Alaskan salmon, rice, and vegetable bowls, you may need to use a compartment to store frozen food. If you are hosting a dinner party and need some space for extra appetizers and canned sparkling rosé wine, use it as a refrigerator. You can switch as needed.
In terms of maintaining moisture in the crisper, RF23A9675AP behaved like a professional and scored very well. Any product stored in it can stay fresh for a longer period of time and will not succumb to fallen leaves or dry skin.
Have your strawberries tasted like last night’s Indian takeaway? It is very disgusting to transfer the smell and/or taste of one food in the refrigerator to another food. Fortunately, this is unlikely to happen with RF23A9675AP. The custom refrigerator has a triple cooling function, which Samsung describes as "a built-in deodorizing filter keeps the air in the refrigerator fresh day after day...to reduce the odor of the air in the refrigerator, while UV technology continuously cleans the filter itself."
To test this, we put a plate of rubbing alcohol in the refrigerator. An hour later, our laboratory staff conducted an olfactory test and concluded that the filter was sufficient to deal with common household odors, such as onions.
There is a beverage center on the left side of the refrigerator compartment, located between the outer door and the inner door, allowing you to use it without releasing too much cold air.
For refrigerators, you want to keep the temperature of the refrigerator compartment below 40°F to prevent bacteria from growing too quickly and damaging perishable items. RF23A9675AP reached this target temperature on average, but barely reached it. When our laboratory has been tested for more than 72 hours and set to the manufacturer's specified temperature, the internal temperature of the refrigerator compartment averaged 39.89°F.
Running a warm refrigerator with inconsistent temperature readings increases the chance that food will spoil faster. Unfortunately, the 39.89°F of RF23A9675AP is not a stable temperature. The temperature is as high as 43°F and as low as 37.8°F during three days of operation. This means that if you flip the food quickly, you will be fine, but if you habitually push aside the restrictions on perishables and leftovers and the best buy-in date, you may have stomachaches.
To counteract these warm temperatures, you can set the internal temperature of the refrigerator to be lower than the setting recommended by the manufacturer, and you will get a lower overall temperature reading. However, you will still experience volatility like we do.
On the other hand, the freezer had an excellent average temperature during the test-five tenths of a degree below 0°F. But also, for RF23A9675AP, maintaining the temperature consistency for a long time seems to be a problem. This type of temperature fluctuation can cause food to be burned by freezing.
This data is also disturbing because it seems to run counter to Samsung’s intentions. Samsung claims that “the advanced cooling system has three evaporators to provide extreme freshness and precise temperature and humidity control in all three areas.”
The kettle in the beverage center contains 48 ounces of water. There are also drinking fountains.
If you have never owned a French door refrigerator with a door-to-door beverage center, you may not know how to open it. On RF23A9675AP, you will feel a lever in the middle of the bottom of the door, which can open the outer door to reveal a kettle, water dispenser and two beverage holders. The pitcher can hold 48 ounces of water and can be easily removed from the docking station. There is also a water dispenser, which you can push to fill a glass of water.
We can appreciate the different use cases of water tanks and water dispensers, so we can have both. Unfortunately, the beverage center does not handle ice cubes. Instead, you must remove the ice cubes from the ice maker in a separate freezer compartment. Two ice trays, you can choose between ice cubes and smaller ice cubes, located at the top of the lower refrigerator, you have to bend or squat to reach it-this is difficult for people with backs Issues, mobility challenges, or arrival issues.
From the date of purchase, Samsung provides a one-year parts and labor warranty, only sealed refrigeration system parts and labor for five years, and digital inverter compressors provide a 10-year parts and five-year labor warranty.
